Autumn Homestay

Why not visit Skillington between September and November to experience the changing colours of the leaves in the trees? Autumn walks are a popular and healthy hobby in the English countryside. Skillington and its surrounds offer memorable scenery of the sheep and other country creatures against the backdrop of fields of autumn crops. These months are an amazing time for gardeners as the glowing autumn plants can be tended in pleasant temperatures.

Autumn is the time to harvest the abundance of fruit and vegetables that have been developing throughout the summer. Our guests always delight in the tasty, seasonal home cooked cuisine produced at Garden Connections during this time.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home

Visit Britain with a homestay in England...

Why not come over to England and spend a relaxing and happy home stay with us in the quaint village of Skillington?

Coles Yard

Slow down to the pace of country living. It is a great way to experience English lifestyle and provides a natural environment in which to escape the stresses of a busy life.

Neighbours!

Friendly farm animals in the adjacent field will quickly make you feel at home and at one with nature.

Home stay is available throughout the whole year. Enjoy cosy winter evenings by the open fireside or join us in welcoming the breathtaking arrival of spring. Delight in the long beautiful days of summer or soak up the autumn colour of the English countryside.

Skillington is a pretty R.H.S. Britain in Bloom gold award winning village that utilises the delightful colour of Cotswold Stone in its buildings. It is a perfect place to get away from it all with country walks on our doorstep but within easy reach of a number of lively towns and tourist attractions. Close by is the family home of Sir Isaac Newton. You are able to visit the house in which he was born and made some of his most famous discoveries. Test some of his theories in the Sir Isaac Newton Science Centre and take a look at the descendant of the famous apple tree. Contact us with your chosen dates if wishing to visit the home of Sir Isaac Newton’s birthplace as it is not open on a daily basis.

Newton's House

As a girl Britain's first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was a regular visitor to Skillington. Visit the Methodist Church where she accompanied her father who would preach there on a Sunday. Her birthplace is a short journey away from our home in the town of Grantham.

Our spacious home and garden are perfect for a comfortable and welcoming stay. There are private rooms, twin rooms and double rooms and a shared guest shower room so why not bring a friend or two and experience precious memories together. If privacy is one of your aims there are plenty of rooms to relax in alone.

We are able to cater for the needs of all ages and a wide field of individual and cultural interests (See our Homestay Plus options for lessons and experiences you may wish to add to your home stay). Children of any age are welcome whether accompanying you on a family stay or if they are at an independent age joining us on an individual stay. Patricia's wealth of over 20 years of teaching experience will ensure that your child or young adult will have an educational as well as a fun stay. Her status as an International Award Winning Teacher is a good indication of the cultural knowledge that your child could gain from such an experience.

Home grown organic food

A variety of dietary needs can be catered for. You are sure to enjoy our home cooking using locally farmed produce. Why not enjoy gathering food of your own choice from our organically grown fruit and vegetables? Our garden also offers a haven of tranquillity in which to enjoy relaxing outdoors or indulging in the pleasure of gardening.

Due to the positioning of our village we do not have the appearance of the stereotypical flat Lincolnshire landscape. From our home enjoy the view of green fields and rolling hills. Skillington lies on the borders of Lincolnshire and Leicestershire as well as being in close proximity to Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and the Rutland countryside. We offer additional day trips to places of beauty and interest in these locations as well as visits to the Cotswolds and Stratford-Upon-Avon.London and York are both just over one hour away by train from our local train station.

If you wish to go to London for shopping or sight-seeing then remember that our home is only 1 hour and 10 minutes travelling time by train to King's Cross station.

Homestay relaxing

This means that you can enjoy the excitement of an away day amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, knowing that you will be returning to your peaceful country retreat that evening! Alternatively enjoy the eloquence of old- fashioned tea houses and the cosmopolitan appeal of stylish shops nearer to our home. Why not visit one of the many country festivals that take place in this area of England where you can get a good sample of British country lifestyle and buy traditional and unusual souvenirs. Whatever your preference we can match the shopping trip to your needs.

We look forward to welcoming you to our home where you will arrive as guests and leave as friends!
